MAC Screen Sharing Shared Computers Tips

MAC Screen Sharing Shared Computers Tips Enjoy using the Screen Share or Shared Computers feature on your MAC, but dislike the fact that sometimes it’s may not show up in your Finder for what ever reason. This could be due to your computer when it to sleep mode and came out of sleep mode, or is in idle mode that may cause that. Well here is a quick & simple work around to that issue. Go to your Menu bar on FINDER select Preferences once the popup box comes up enable the first option labled Computer just below DEVICES now you can use your finder to navigate to it then select Network and any computers that are shared on your home network will show up. Video tutorials shows other ways of doing this as well. Please note that if you set your computer to go to sleep after being inactive for a set time then these tips will do no good. You will then need to use Wake-On-Lan to bring those computers out of sleep mode that are connected via Ethernet not Wireless mode.

Have Fun & Enjoy.

MAC OS X – Hidden Screen Shots

MAC OS X – Hidden Screen Shots In this tutorial I will show you a very neat & useful way of taken screen shots of your desktop without save it as an image file to your desktop. This works in the same manner as Text when you Copy/Paste item.

Typical Screen Shots Key Combinations are:

Command-Shift-3 = Full Desktop Screen Shot

Command-Shift-4 = Specified Screen Shot

Command-Shift-4-Space Bar = Screen Shot of a Window with the Camera Icon

Now to the Screen Shots using Copy/Paste

Control-Command-Shift-3 = Full Desktop Screen Shot

Control-Command-Shift-4 = Specified Screen Shot

Have Fun & Enjoy.

Screen Capture Frame Rates – iShowU

We this is more for those that are into doing screen captures on their computers. Now mostly I’ve been doing pretty much all my video tutorials using several codecs like Apple Intermediate Codec, Apple Animation, H.264 for the most part. Now usually always my FSP or Frames Per Second while capturing is 25 fps. Which is all good and dandy but you will end up with a pretty large file at the end. Also note that all my screen captures are my full screens resolution which is at 1920×1200 so it’s a fairly large size not gigantic but still on the large side of things.

Ok so here is how it goes. My final movie file is .MOV which I then convert to .m4v, .mp4, or still to .mov using H.264 codec. So I have found that making my initial screen capture @ 16 fps still pretty much looks identical to using 25 fps. Basically I could not tell the difference in quality since screen captures don’t involve motion blur as movies do.

I hope some of you folks find this tip useful if not well then better luck next time.

I’ve attached two files both are the same exact videos of my test I was running at 16 fps which I exported the original video to two different formats. So you can see the quality for yourself.

One is .m4v @ 768×480 and the other is .mp4 @ 640×352 Video durations is 02:39 QuickTime/iTunes/QuickTime Alternative needed to play videos so you don’t have any issues.
