Original source video was recorded using the Hauppauge HD PVR with a resulting file size of 103mb @ 720p HD, then we use EyeTV3 to export at iPod High settings in conjunction with the Turbo.264 HD encoder. To drastically reduce our encode times.

Turbo.264 HD vs Turbo.264 Here we will review both the Turbo.264 & Turbo.264 HD as to speed & quality of encodes. We will be using a 6 min vob file & converting it to Apple TV format. Let’s see which is faster.

As with the new updates to the turbo.264 HD it now supports encoding to 1080p & 720p which is great for folks that want those hi res videos. Currently the new version also takes advantage or your systems cpu along with it’s own hardware encoder to speed up the process of encoding your files. Some folks may not like that idea to much but in order to take advantage of those 1080 & 720p encodes it’s a must. Which is why the previous version of the Elgato turbo.264 had so many limitations when it came to encoding.

MAC: Convert DVD to .VOB Here is a quick tip in order to convert your DVD’s to a .vob file. This is a great way to archive your movies to use with Toast to burn to DVD, or to play on your PS3 so long as you keep it under 4GB due to the FAT32 file system limit. Both of these programs are about $50 in price & offer many different options as to what you can do with them. Both of these programs use the VIDEO_TS folder from any movie that was ripped to your hard drive or directly from the DVD it self as long as it is unencrypted.

In this short tutorial I will show you how to use WordPress & Quicktime Export To Web, on your WordPress Blog. Now a few things to note is that sometimes the “.JPG” image that is created in QT Export to Web may not show up on your blog. A simple fix is to open up any image editor & resave it as a .jpg image. Now the most important part is that the reference movie file that is also created chances are it will not play. Again simple fix is to point it to the Original movie file for example “My_Movie.mp4 or My_Movie.m4v” which ever may be the case. This way it will show your image & movie file and will play correctly in your WordPress Blog via Windows Firefox and IE7 as it will be fine in MAC OS X Safari regardless of how you do it. As always make sure that your movie is optimized for the web with fast start. Doing it this way will also keep the movie from loading since the image is the first thing to load rather then the movie, until you hit play. Then it will play & load at that time.

Please note that I have only test this in the browsers that I mentioned above. I have not yet tested this in Linux at this time.
