MAC: Convert DVD to .VOB

MAC: Convert DVD to .VOB Here is a quick tip in order to convert your DVD’s to a .vob file. This is a great way to archive your movies to use with Toast to burn to DVD, or to play on your PS3 so long as you keep it under 4GB due to the FAT32 file system limit. Both of these programs are about $50 in price & offer many different options as to what you can do with them. Both of these programs use the VIDEO_TS folder from any movie that was ripped to your hard drive or directly from the DVD it self as long as it is unencrypted.

DVD2oneX2 $55.00 US Dollars from $39.99 Euro: http://www.dvd2one.com/

DVD Remaster Pro $49.99 US Dollars : http://www.metakine.com/products/dvdremaster/

MAC Remote Disc DVD CD Sharing

MAC Remote Disc DVD CD Sharing Need to enable your remote disc, yet you have cd / dvd sharing enabled and it does not show up. Well with a nice terminal command we can do just that and enable Remote Disc on MAC OS X.

Terminal Commands:

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser EnableODiskBrowsing -bool true

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser ODSSupported -bool true

Don’t forget to restart your system after using the terminal commands.

Side note: If you only enable CD DVD sharing you can still share your cd/dvd drive but it will show up as a folder not a remote disc.

MAC: RipIt

MAC: RipIt is claimed to be the best dvd ripper for the Mac while it does it’s job well, it lacks in many areas when it comes to FrontRow support and some burning applications are not able to burn the Video_TS folder that is contained in the package of the file that is created by this program. Yet for it only being 20 bucks in price it pretty well worth having it.
