Kandalu ImageBrain In this tutorial we will go over on how to use some of the new features in ImageBrain. Please keep in mind that at the time of this video this product is currently in beta & does not represent the finished product. What this program allows you to do if to locate duplicates of the same image on your computer or external hard drives that may be connected to your machine. What makes this program different in the way that it works compared to other duplicate finders is that not only does it locate the same image but it does it regardless of name or file extension, by using the identification technology (PSNR-K).

Turbo.264 HD vs Turbo.264 Here we will review both the Turbo.264 & Turbo.264 HD as to speed & quality of encodes. We will be using a 6 min vob file & converting it to Apple TV format. Let’s see which is faster.

As with the new updates to the turbo.264 HD it now supports encoding to 1080p & 720p which is great for folks that want those hi res videos. Currently the new version also takes advantage or your systems cpu along with it’s own hardware encoder to speed up the process of encoding your files. Some folks may not like that idea to much but in order to take advantage of those 1080 & 720p encodes it’s a must. Which is why the previous version of the Elgato turbo.264 had so many limitations when it came to encoding.

MAC: RipIt is claimed to be the best dvd ripper for the Mac while it does it’s job well, it lacks in many areas when it comes to FrontRow support and some burning applications are not able to burn the Video_TS folder that is contained in the package of the file that is created by this program. Yet for it only being 20 bucks in price it pretty well worth having it.

D Vision 3 – Join VOB Files Ever needed to join .vob files together for what ever reason you wanted to do so. Well you can very easily with D Vision 3 which is a freeware program. Now this program does much more but is great for joining those .vob files and make them just one file. Great for re-encoding to ipod or iphone format or even to burn on dvd it self.

MAC OS X – Split n Join Files

MAC OS X – Split n Join Files, can be done in many different ways. Using freeware & non-freeware applications. Now to split files into .RAR format on MAC OS X there are two apps I know of which can do this one is terminal based from http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm called RAROSX not free, or a free option is SimplyRar from http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/21430 please note that this free version is no longer supported. Now those are just a few options if you really need to create .RAR file & split them.

MAC OS X make favicon ico image

IcoMaker for MAC OS X is a freeware application used to create those favicon.ico files for your web browsers url. This is a lightweight & small application which currently supports Tiger (Universal), Jaguar, Panther, & Puma. Just to note I’ve been using this on Leopard 10.5.5 without any issues at all & has been working flawlessly. So if you want an easy way to make or create to favicon images this is the MAC way to go.

Glowing Blue Orb .PSD This is a nice blue orb which you can actually change the colors to look the way you want it. Basically it’s a glass ball with a nice glow to it,. that background is disabled so that the image can be saved as a transparent image. Now if you prefer you can enable the background & make it what ever color you like. This image looks really great on a dark background since it help the colors just pop out.

It allows you to copy the protected DVD to your computer which can be played back via apple dvd player or front row. This also copies all dvd protection which is why it is not made for burning to a dvd.
