hey i have a quick question i have an iso. file to join, i saw how you wrote “cd” but im guessing that you wrote that because it was from a cd, so what would i write for these iso. files?

That would be due to the header information within the files them selfs that will not allow you to join them together. What can happen is it will join the file show the full file size yet only play a portion of the video with or without sound. So terminal would not be an option for you. However if they are .AVI files then you could go with D-Vision 3 here is the link http://www.objectifmac.com/down.php?name=D-Vision & website http://www.objectifmac.com/ this will allow you to join those .avi files as one along with the audio sound in them.

i’m trying to join files that are in mp4 format together. but when i tried to join files that are in avi.001, avi.002 etc format together, it joins as well, but there’s no sound in the video. Thanks.

i tried it the first time and it worked, but subsequently, the files didn’t join, only the first file out the three i tried joining together appeared. any idea what’s wrong? thanks man.

I am such a nube when it comes to anything like this. Your tutorial was great and the files I needed to combine, combined perfectly. I wish I actually understood more of what actually happened, but I am very pleased to report success on my very first shot at using Terminal to do anything!

If your looking to split your files into 100 mb sizes then you will need to type into terminal minus quotes “split -b 100m example_file_name.mov new_file_name_here.mov” keep in mind that in terminal characters are case sensitive as to what they do.
